Father's Day is for Food!

Happy Father's Day to all those dads out there, both old and new!

This Father's Day we had something extra special to celebrate - the arrival of our son Dyson Alexander.  We're now a family of four, and as a result we're now feeling like a real *FAMILY*.

This year we also started a new version of the old Bramlet Mother's Day tradition where the boys would send the girls out for a day of pampering and then cook dinner for them.  Since we don't have family out here, Henry organized our friends Carterand Corey to do the same for their wives, while they cooked us an excellent BBQ lunch.

This weekend, Elizabeth, Stephanie and I returned the favor by cooking for the boys after sending them out for a game of golf.  Unfortunately, my Beef Wellingtons didn't turn out as I had hoped, but the creamed spinach, twice baked potatoes, and brownie sundaes certainly were scrumptious.

Continuing the theme, today I introduced a few new recipes to our repertoire to continue to pamper Henry.  For breakfast, I made a Sausage, Fontina, and Bell Pepper Strata.  SO good and really not that hard to make.  For dinner,  I tried another new recipe - Chicken with Riesling, using the carrots we got with this week's CSA shipment.  Another big winner.

It's been a long time since I've had the inclination to cook fancy frou frou food, what with the pregnancy and new mom tiredness, but I'm definitely back in the saddle again.  I had almost as much fun cooking today as Henry had eating!
